Sandalwood has an uninterrupted sacred 4,000 year history, being mentioned in ancient Sanskrit and Chinese manuscripts. It is probably the first wood used as building material and also burned as incense. The Sandalwood is a small, evergreen tree native to tropical Asia. Its soft wood was traditionally used in the construction of Hindu temples because of its attractive aroma.
It takes a tree 50 years before it will produce quality essential oil. The sacred oil is one of the main remedies in the Ayurvedic system of medicine. Aside from sandalwood's sacred significance, the antiseptic oil is soothing to throat conditions, skin irritations, stress, depression and nausea.
Naturally fragrant and smooth, each bead is approximately 6mm in diameter. Use while chanting, in meditation, or as a necklace.
